J.K. Rowling has announced the title of the next Harry Potter book: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. No release date set, of course.

Thanks to John (who already knows that books are sexy) from ChattyLibrarians for letting us know that men in Britain may make money for reading. Ahem! I read. I could use 1000 quid, thanks! Feh.

LONDON (Reuters) - In a bid to lure men in Britain away from TV soccer games and into book shops, publisher Penguin Books will send out a sexy model to offer £1,000 ($1,837) prizes to males spotted reading a selected title.

The publicity ploy, launched Monday, aims to boost sales among men, who on average buy fewer books than women.

"It's to sex up the book industry, which probably needs it, but also to address the more serious issue that reading has fallen off the radar of younger men,"

Was reading Jessamyn's blog and came across the news that Nancy Pearl will be retiring. Who is Nancy Pearl, you ask? She is the author of Book Lust, one of the best reader's advisory books I've ever come across and also the model for the Librarian Action Figure. I had the pleasure of hearing and meeting (and getting an autograph from!) Ms. Pearl at PLA in Seattle in February. A charming and delightful woman. I'm looking forward to Book Lust II.
